Popular Nigerian pastor Ashimolowo’s church under investigation by UK Police over alleged fraud

The police in London, United Kingdom has kicked off fraud investigations into alleged mismanagement of finances at Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), the church of popular Nigerian pastor Matthew Ashimolowo.

The UK Guardian reports that the criminal investigation by the City of London police followed a report of the Charity Commission which found KICC lost most of £5m invested by the former Charlton footballer Richard Rufus, a Ponzi scheme operator.

Detectives from City of London police’s fraud teams are investigating,” an unnamed police spokesman confirmed, although no arrests have been made.

Thousands Of Chilean Fans Organise Protest Urging Alexis Sanchez To Quit Arsenal

Thousands of Chilean football fans have signed up to march in protest against Alexis Sanchez remaining at Arsenal.

   A Facebook event named ‘National March for Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal’ has been organised with nearly 7,000 supporters planning to campaign along the streets of Santiago – the capital of Sanchez’s home country – on March 1.

“Chileans are tired of watching one of our stars work alone so that their team can move forward,” the description of the event says.

“We do not want him to play in Madrid, not to return to Barcelona, the truth is that we do not give a damn what team to play, we just want to see him fight along with ten others to get results. No more alone.”

Sanchez is in the final 18 months of his contract at the Emirates, and there are reports that he was involved in a dressing-room row after the defeat in Germany.

The former Barcelona man has netted 20 times in all competitions this season and leads the way in the Premier League goal-scoring charts with 17 strikes.

EFCC says it has uncovered a $37.5m mansion belonging to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke at Banana Island, Lagos. A statement by the antigraft agency states that the mansion on Building 3, Block B, is a fifteen storey edifice comprising of 18 flats and 6 penthouses, Bella Vista at Plot 1, Zone N, Federal Government Layout, Banana Island Layout, Foreshore Estate, Off Onikoyi Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The property was allegedly acquired by the former minister between 2011 and 2012 at a total cost of Thirty Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars ($37,500,000USD) from the developers, YF Construction Development and Real Estate.

West African Idols star Eric Arubayi has died

Just received an extremely sad news this evening. West African Idols 2007 runner-up, and gospel artist, Eric Arubayi, has died. He died this evening February 11th at Delta State University Teaching Hospital after battling an illness.

The singer who celebrated his 3rd wedding anniversary on Dec. 28th 2016, leaves behind a wife, Chinonso and a son. He was just in his mid-30s. What a sad, unbelievable loss. May his soul rest in peace, amen.

OMG! Lagos Mechanic Stabs Sales Boy to Death for Scratching His Client’s Car

The police in Lagos State have declared a mechanic, Fatai Bashiru, wanted for allegedly stabbing a sales boy, Shedrach Emenike, also known as Chiboy, to death in the Mushin area of Lagos for scratching his client’s car.

According to the Punch, Bashiru stabbed Emenike, 23, in the armpit and other parts of his body, leaving him with fatal wounds. The victim was rushed to a general hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Taxi drivers face £1,000 fine for refusing to pick up wheelchair users

Taxi drivers who refuse to pick up wheelchair users or attempt to charge more for transporting them could be fined up to £1,000 under new laws tackling discrimination.

The penalties will come into force from 6 April and will oblige taxi and private hire cars to take wheelchair users in their wheelchair if their vehicles are able to, as well as providing appropriate assistance. It will be an offense to charge any additional fare for the service. The rules will apply across Britain for taxis and private hire vehicles designated as wheelchair accessible including all black cabs in London and taxis in many other cities.

Drivers discriminating against wheelchair users face fines of up to £1,000 and could lose their licence, unless they have an exemption for medical reasons.

Soldier shoots armed attacker at Louvre museum in Paris

A French soldier shot a man who attempted on Friday to enter the Louvre, Paris’ landmark art museum, carrying at least one suitcase or backpack and wielding a machete.

 Elaine Cobbe CBS Radio News correspondent says, according to a local officials, the assailant was shot and wounded after pulling a machete on the soldier. The soldier fired a total of five shots, according to Cadot, and Luc Poignant, the head of a French police union told France Info radio that the suspect had gunshot injuries to his abdomen and leg.

Bomb technicians were called to the scene to investigate the bag the man was carrying, but an Interior Ministry spokesperson at the scene said no explosives were found. The spokesman said police were establishing a security perimeter around the museum, and that about 250 museum guests were being evacuated.

Travis Scott definitely wasn’t lip-synching when he took the stage with Drake Wednesday night.

In a post on his Twitter handle shortly after 10:00 p.m., Mr. Fayose said the organisers have his full backing to launch the protest which they said will be “massive”.

Islamic State 'recruiter' arrested during terror raids in Germany

A minister says an "extensive network" has been smashed because of the raids on more than 50 mosques, apartments and businesses.

German police have arrested a Tunisian man suspected of being a recruiter for Islamic State during raids targeting dozens of addresses.
 More than 50 mosques, apartments and businesses were raided in the early hours in central Germany.
 Police say the investigation was directed against a total of 16 people aged between 16 and 46.
 The 36-year-old main suspect was arrested in Frankfurt.
 He is believed to have operated as a recruiter and smuggler for IS since August 2015

The suspect is also said to have built up a network of supporters to carry out a terror attack in Germany. Prosecutors say plans for a possible attack were at a very early stage and no definite target had been chosen. More than 1,100 police officers were involved in Wednesday's operation.
