Argentina apologise for Bauza's Barcelona criticism over Messi
Barcelona have received an apology from the Argentine Football Association (AFA) after Argentina coach Edgardo Bauza criticised the Spanish champions' handling of Lionel Messi.
The superstar forward was brought off during the second half of Barca's 1-1 LaLiga draw against Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
Barca later confirmed that the 29-year-old is set to miss around three weeks of action with a groin strain, with Messi having suffered a similar injury during the last international break with Argentina.
Bauza took aim at Barca for requesting he be protected while on international duty, claiming coach Luis Enrique was not doing so himself.
And the AFA have now looked to smooth over the war of words, sending an apology to Camp Nou officials.
"The AFA has contacted Barca to express its apology for the comments made by the manager in relation to the injury of Leo Messi," said Barca spokesman Josep Vives.
"We want to work so that Leo Messi recuperates as quickly as possible because, as Luis Enrique said, Messi is a global ambassador for football."

Explosion in Manhattan, New York City, second device being investigated

At least 29 people suffered non-life threatening injuries in an explosion which occurred in a crowded Chelsea neighbourhood in Manhattan on Saturday night. According to the New York Fire Commissioner, Daniel Nigro, one person was seriously injured.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said a second site was being investigated.
"Tonight,
New York City experienced a very bad incident," de Blasio said at a
news conference near the scene. "We have no credible and specific threat
at this moment".

Blasio said the blast was "an intentional act" and tried to calm any
fears among nervous New Yorkers, saying the explosion had no terrorist
connection and wasn’t related to a pipe bomb explosion earlier Saturday
in New Jersey at a charity run.

Futuristic laser weapon to be developed for use by British forces
The futuristic "energy" cannon is set to be created under a £30m deal being finalised by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
It
forms the first part of a programme aimed at showing how pioneering
technology, once confined to the pages of science fiction, can be
exploited by the military in future.
The agreement would see missile manufacturer MBDA UK build a
"capability demonstrator" for a "laser-directed energy weapon", with a
one-off prototype delivered by 2019.
The Stevenage-based defence
firm will examine how the system could be used to acquire and track
targets in different weather conditions over both land and sea, with
enough accuracy to enable "safe and effective engagement".

Drake Buys Neighbour’s House After They Complained About His Noisemaking

According to Hot New Hip Hop, the Toronto-born rapper who had previously sung about buying his neighbour’s house if they complained about his noisemaking, really has purchased his neighbour’s home for same reason.
“I’ll buy the neighbor’s house if they complain about the noise,” Drake had once sung in hit song, “Where Ya At”. And following complaints from neighbours about his partying, he purchased the Hidden Hills, L.A. property which sits beside his.

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Garba
Abari, has expressed delight that Nigerians have been left with no
option but to look inwards because of the economic recession.
Abari stated this in an interview, in Abuja, on Friday.
He explained that the fall in oil prices
and the disappearance of what he referred to as “free money” will
engender a home-grown response to the nation’s economic problems.
According to him, Nigeria’s economic
problem was not peculiar to it because other oil producing nations like
Venezuela were also taking a hit but that Nigeria under the Buhari-led
administration was handling it better.
Abari said, “Happily, the country is
broke, if we had lived a life of falsehood always guided by our crass
appetite for consumption and lack of productivity because there was free
money, now we are being confronted with the reality.
“It is a global economic challenge and
every country is being affected one way or another. Venezuela is an oil
producing country like Nigeria; perhaps in terms of production quota in
OPEC, it may even be producing higher than Nigeria. It is not even as
populous as Nigeria is and you have seen what has become of it.
“Oil that used to be the source of money
is no longer bringing in the money. We are beginning to show a sign
that we are positively responding to the reality.”
He explained that the contribution of
agriculture to the GDP was negligible in the last few years but that it
had improved considerably under the current administration because of
the proactive measures, so far taken.
