Manchester United’s pursuit of Alvaro Morata could be set to reach a conclusion with the player expecting his future to be sorted out in the next week. Marca reports that Morata has told Real Madrid he wants to leave.
With his heart set on a move to the Premier League, the only thing left to work out is the transfer fee.
Real Madrid are holding out for €80 million and refusing to budge. They believe that United will give in to their demands because Jose Mourinho views Morata as a priority signing. Morata wants a move to Old Trafford.
With the 2018 World Cup in Russia on the horizon, Morata is desperate for regular first team football.
Last season, he played a substitute’s role at Madrid, behind Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema in the pecking order. This didn’t stop him from finishing as the second-highest scorer at Madrid after Ronaldo with 20 goals.
